Walking is one of the most fundamental forms of human movement, which can transcend its practical, everyday function and be interpreted as a cultural-historical phenomenon, a means of cognition, an artistic act and a philosophical methodology. Lucius Burckhardt developed promenadology, a method of cultural studies and aesthetics (also known as strollology, or the science of walking) in the 1970s, with the aim of making people aware of the conditions under which they perceive their environment and broadening their environmental perception. The exhibition explores walking as an art form, a narrative instrument and a critical practice, through works, projects and actions that instrumentalize the everyday act of walking as a means of discovery, reconnaissance, resistance and political action. The exhibition is on view between 9 October 2026 and 31 January 2027.
