Liszt:
Danse Macabre, S. 126
Brahms:
Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73
Featuring:
János Palojtay – piano, Gürzenich-Orchester Köln
Conductor:
Andrés Orozco-Estrada
János Palojtay, a leading performing artist of his generation, will play two works by Liszt that each meet the description of a concerto. He will be partnered by one of the longest-standing German ensembles, the Gürzenich-Orchester of Cologne, which in the 19th century appeared in concert with such composers as Berlioz, Verdi and Wagner. They were responsible for the world premieres of important works, both operas and symphonic pieces. At the Liszt Fest, they will be directed by Columbian violinist and conductor, Andrés Orozco-Estrada. The Budapest audience may well be familiar with the excellent conductor as he has appeared in the concert halls of Müpa Budapest and the Liszt Academy several times, as the guest of the Budapest Festival Orchestra and other ensembles. He is currently principal conductor of the Italian Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai, and is the general music director of the Gürzenich-Orchester from the 2025/2026 season.
